Terms of Service
Booking, cancellation and on-board terms. Effective July 5, 2026.
These terms cover chartering a fishing trip with Captain Skippy Charters ("we," "us," "captain"). By paying a deposit or stepping aboard the Christina M II, you agree to the terms below on behalf of every member of your party. Effective July 5, 2026.
Booking and deposit
A $150 non-refundable deposit is required to hold your date. The deposit is only refunded if the captain cancels the trip. The remaining balance and gratuity are due at the dock on trip day, in cash or by Venmo, PayPal, Cash App, Zelle or check.
Rates
Half-Day Mixed Bag (May 1 – October 10): $600 per boat, 5 hours, 1–4 anglers. Optional 5th angler +$150 case-by-case.
Fall Blackfish (October 11 – November 30): $700 per boat, 6 hours, 1–4 anglers. Optional 5th angler +$150 case-by-case.
A 20% minimum gratuity for the captain is customary and paid at the dock.
Cancellation and weather
The captain has full authority to cancel a trip for weather, sea conditions, or any other safety concern. If the captain cancels, your deposit will be refunded in full or applied to a rescheduled date at your choice. Customer cancellations forfeit the deposit — this is industry-standard.
If forecasts trend rough, we usually reach out 24–48 hours before the trip to discuss options.
Assumption of risk
Recreational fishing on the Long Island Sound carries inherent risks: sun, wind, waves, sharp hooks, live bait, and slippery surfaces among them. By coming aboard, you and every member of your party accept these risks and agree to follow the captain's instructions at all times. The captain reserves the right to cut a trip short for the safety of any guest.
Rules on board
- Closed-toed shoes required. No flip-flops.
- No glass bottles.
- No hard liquor. Beer and wine in cans or plastic are fine.
- Soft-side coolers only; no oversized hard coolers.
- PFDs (life jackets) are provided and must be worn when the captain instructs.
- Anyone impaired to the point of being a hazard to themselves, other guests, or the vessel will not be permitted aboard, without refund.
Fish, catch and licenses
All anglers on board are covered under our New York State charter license. Everyone will follow current NY State recreational limits, slot sizes and closed seasons — the captain sets the standard. Catch that is over-slot, over-limit, or out of season goes back to the water safely.
Kids and minors
Minors are welcome under the supervision of a parent or guardian. Kid-sized life jackets are aboard. Please tell us ages when you book.
Photos on the water
We may take photos on the boat and share them on our website or social media to promote future trips. If you'd rather your image not be used, please tell the captain at the start of the trip and we'll happily respect that.
Property and personal items
Please leave phones and cameras in a dry bag when you can. We're not responsible for lost, damaged, or wet personal items.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Captain Skippy Charters, the captain, and the vessel are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from a trip. Nothing in these terms limits liability for gross negligence or willful misconduct.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Suffolk County, New York.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The current version is always the one posted here at captainskippyfishingcharters.com/terms.
