Rocky Point fishing charter.
10 minutes to the dock. You already live on the fishing grounds.
If you live in Rocky Point, you're 10 minutes from Captain Skippy Charters at Mount Sinai Marina — and the water directly outside your door is one of the best fluke and porgy grounds in the Long Island Sound. Private, USCG-licensed, 1–4 anglers, all-in pricing.
You already live on the fishing grounds
The shoals and ledges from Rocky Point through Shoreham and Wading River are our home water — this is the eastern half of the central Long Island Sound and it produces fluke and porgies all summer, plus quality blackfish on the harder-bottom spots through the fall. From our Mount Sinai dock, we're on the Rocky Point shoal in about 10 minutes of running.
What we target from Rocky Point water
- Fluke drift: the sandy edges east of Rocky Point produce keeper fluke on light-tackle drifts, late May through July.
- Porgies (scup): the harder ledges hold big porgies through the summer — drop-and-stick fishing at its best.
- Striped bass: the mouth of Mount Sinai Harbor and the tide changes off Rocky Point hold stripers on trolled tube-and-worm rigs and jigs.
- Fall blackfish: the rocky structure east of Mount Sinai is prime tautog water Oct 11 – Nov 30. See the Fall Blackfish trip.
Directions from Rocky Point
From Rocky Point, take Route 25A west about 10 minutes to Mount Sinai. Turn north on Harbor Beach Road, pass the marina guard booth, and take the first left after the stop sign into the Town Marina lot. Head to the far east side, first dock — Christina M II.
The short-run advantage
Because you're already this close to the water, you save the long run some charters take from Port Jefferson or points further west. That means more time fishing, less time running. Every hour on the boat is fishing time, not sightseeing.
